What is Powder Coating?

What is Powder Coating?

Powder coating produces a much harder and thicker coating than conventional paint, offering a beautiful and luxurious finish to the product, coloured in either anthracite grey or black.

Powder coating does provide the steel with some resistance from rust, however, it does not protect it from being completely rust-free, unless it is pre-treated by hot-dip galvanizing.

The hot-dip galvanized base coat, of your product is subjected to a pre-treatment process before the addition of a powder-coated topcoat, and both processes combined offer anti-corrosion protection benefits, and an aesthetic look to your product.

Please be aware that any nuts, bolts, and gate eye bolts cannot be powder-coated, because paint collects in the groves and will interfere with the threads. Instead, all nuts and bolts will be hand-painted using the standard painted finish in the same colour as your products, which will require repeated maintenance by the owner.

We would recommend repainting any fixtures, on an annual basis to preserve them and prevent any build-up of rust.

What are the Benefits?

Aesthetic Beauty

Colour and texture, both offer an aesthetic finish. No colour fading as it offers UV stability.

Corrosion Protection

Provides extended corrosion prevention by protecting the galvanised base layer.

Sustainability

Preserves the life of the steel reducing the need for replacement and the carbon footprint is educed due to low maintenance.

Installation Time

No on-site painting, apart from small fixtures, so the time taken to install the product is reduced.

Economical

Reduces long-term cost due to low maintenance, compared to the standard paint finishWhat is Powder Coating?
